We just had a great chapel service at NBCS (we call them CIA). We had an ex student, Tim Kay, return to school to share his testimony. Tim was a difficult student at school but just before he left he decided to follow Jesus and 7 years later he has finished Bible College and working for a Church. I love having ex-students back to share with students as their stories often connect as students can relate to what is being said.
Have a watch of some highlights from our latest Chapel service. I have included snippets of the music and intro that was played at the start and part of an item by a student.

The Chapel services at NBCS are called CIA Assemblies. This stands for Christianity in Action which is part of our school motto - ‘excellence in education, Christianity in action‘..
What I want CIA to be:
Fun, engaging, strong Christian message, student owned and led, appealing to both Christians and non-Christians, Challenging, surprising.
What I don’t want CIA to be:
Boring, following a set formula, predictable, appealing just to Christian kids, run purely by the Chaplain.
Have a look and see what sort of things we get up to…..

Another great CIA yesterday. Used a countdown from worshiphouse media to keep students entertained as they were filling the auditorium and it worked really well. Here it is below.
The theme was ‘loving’ and we were fortunate to have a mate of mine, Ty, come and play for us. Ty spoke about the fact that when we know we are loved we are free to be who we want and we don’t need to put of a facade or be fake to gain acceptance. It was top gear.
Here is a snippet from his song…

We had a great first chapel service in our new Auditorium. The topic was ‘What do you feed yourself?’.
We made a smoothie on stage where the students voted on the ingredients. It ended up containing sardines, octopus, spaghetti and milk!!
We looked at Psalm 119:102-104 Where David explains how God’s teaching and instructions were sweet to his lips and helpful for understanding life.
We have a choice to feed ourselves good things that will help us or not so good things which will leave a bitter taste in our mouths and be harmful to ourselves and others.
Can’t wait till next week!!

Volunteers to drink the smoothie
